Kenneth Merchant, MD is part of Summit Medical Group Arizona’s Family Medicine team. Dr. Merchant provides exceptional patient care that incorporates the specialties of Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and OB/GYN. In his current Internal Medicine practice setting, Dr. Merchant provides adult medicine to both men and women. He believes in the effectiveness of vaccinations to prevent diseases. Dr. Merchant aims to provide high quality medical care by employing competency, friendliness, and ethics during his office interactions with patients. “I am always honest with my patients. I will not hide unfavorable medical results or information, but I will always try to provide my patients with hope and a comprehensive treatment plan,” says Dr. Merchant.

Dr. Merchant earned his Doctor of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC and was involved in the evaluation and treatment of two members of the President’s Cabinet when they required medical care. He was the Clinical Director for Immigration Health at the Eloy Detention Center, a private prison in Arizona under contract with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.  While there, he provided the Standard of Medical Care to all immigrant patients, many who had been newly diagnosed with acute and chronic medical conditions. He is proud to have been responsible for administering frequent life-saving interventions to such a vulnerable population who were very appreciative of the good medical care that was being provided.  Dr. Merchant received the Outstanding Accomplishment Award from Immigration Health for Measles Containment at the Eloy Detention Center which had the largest Measles Outbreak in the United States for the year 2016.

Dr. Merchant is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. When not occupied with his work, he enjoys hiking.
