Amanda Andersen, MD is part of Summit Medical Group Arizona’s Internal Medicine and Pediatrics teams. Dr. Andersen is board certified in internal medicine giving her the ability to care for a variety of patients—infants through adults. She has special interest in the transition of pediatric to adult care. As a general practitioner, Dr. Andersen diagnoses and treats both common and complicated primary care conditions. In addition to using evidence-based medicine and supporting appropriate screenings, she is a prevention enthusiast who believes healthy eating and consistent exercise are stepping stones to a healthy life. “My goal is to help each patient fully understand their medical condition and empower them to make the best health care decisions,” says Dr. Andersen.
Dr. Andersen is a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). She presented at a regional ACP meeting during her residency and at local journal clubs. In 2009, Dr. Andersen was awarded Biology Student of the Year from Elmhurst College. Additionally, she served as Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Class Representative on the Internal Medicine House Staff Council while a resident at University of Arizona at BUMC-P in both 2017 and 2018.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Andersen enjoys playing the ukulele and participating in the game of disc golf. She is also a runner and has completed several half and full marathons.
